Bongiorno's Contracting is pleased to offer installation of new lawns, either seed or sod. We carry a wide assortment of various seed and sod types that are sure to fit into any residential or commercial project.
This is a new sod lawn installation with flowering plants and shrubs added as for our clients request.
Prior to installation we remove debris that may effect growing of new grass such as clods & rocks. Using a rototiller and loader we cultivate the soil 4-6" in depth. Then we rake over surface areas roughly to remove any large rocks or debris.
To eliminate drainage problems we often grade the site to have soil slope away from foundations, etc.
We will soil test your lawn area and then rake in fertilizer, lime, peat, compost, etc. as needed to depth of 7 to 10 cm. (2 to 4 in.) Rake and smooth the soil removing rocks, roots and large clods. If needed, we will roll the area lightly with a lawn roller 1/3 full of water. This will firm the soil surface and reveal low areas that need more soil. Keep the grade 2 to 3 cm. (1 in.) below sidewalks or driveways.
We own our equipment and we meet our deadlines. We don't rely on contractors or rent or borrow equipment from other companies. This is a representative sample of one of our projects.

NEW LAWNS
We recommend watering the prepared area to settle soil and provide a moist base for turf. Moistening to a depth of 15 cm. (6 in.) is recommended for most soils. In hot weather, we protect unlaid turf by placing stacks in shade, covering with moist burlap sacking, and/or sprinkling
We begin installing turf along the longest straight line, such as a driveway or sidewalk. Butt and push edges and ends against each other tightly, without streching. Avoid gaps or overlaps. Stagger the joints in each row in a brick-like fashion, using a large sharp knife to trim corners, etc. Avoid leaving small strips at outer edges as they will not retain moisture. On slopes, place the turf pieces across the slope.
To avoid causing indentations or air pockets, avoid repeated walking or kneeling on the turf while it is being installed or just after watering.
After we install your turf, we recommend avoiding heavy traffic on prepared areas. During the first three weeks. This gives the roots an opportunity to firmly knit with soil, and insures that the turf will remain smooth. Follow mowing procedures according to your type of lawn
